GPSR compliance on Etsy

Etsy applies the EU GPSR to every listing visible to EU buyers: it removes non-compliant listings and, since April 2025, provides a shop-wide Responsible Person setting plus a product-safety section on each listing. This guide walks through the exact fields, and what to prepare before you fill them.

What every EU-facing listing must display

GPSR Art. 19 requires this information to be visible before purchase — on the listing itself, not just inside the parcel:

Step by step on Etsy

  1. 1.Add your EU Responsible Person shop-wide

Shop Manager → Settings → Product safety: enter the Responsible Person name, address and email once and apply it to all your EU-facing listings (tool available since April 2025). If the manufacturer is in the EU, enter the manufacturer details instead.

  2. 2.Fill the product safety section on each listing

In the listing editor, open the product safety section and fill manufacturer details and warnings. Paste the warning texts from the Safety Information Sheet in this kit, in the languages of the EU countries you sell to.

  3. 3.Add the copy-paste block to your listing description

Etsy shows one description to all buyers: paste the multilingual block from this kit (manufacturer, Responsible Person, warnings) at the bottom of the description so EU buyers see it before purchase.

  4. 4.Add a photo of the product label

Upload at least one listing photo showing the physical label (from the Label Template) with manufacturer/Responsible Person details and warnings — this is what Etsy checks when a listing is flagged.

The documents to prepare

The fields above are the easy part — what takes time is preparing what goes in them. The GPSR Kit generates all four documents for your specific product in one pass:

FAQ

What happens if my Etsy listings are not GPSR-compliant?

Etsy removes non-compliant listings from EU search results or takes them down entirely, usually without much notice.

Do I need an EU Responsible Person?

If your products' manufacturer is based outside the EU — which includes you, if you make the products yourself outside the EU — then yes, a person or company established in the EU must be named on your listings. The kit's checklist includes guidance and real market prices for appointing one.

What documents should I have ready before filling the fields?

A multilingual safety information sheet (the warning texts you will paste), a risk assessment kept in your technical file, and a label with the required mentions. That is exactly what the GPSR Kit generates for your specific product.

GPSR Kit helps you prepare product-safety compliance documents. It is not legal advice and does not guarantee compliance or marketplace approval. Review and adapt all content to your actual product before use.
